Zardari said PPP leadership not scared of Nawaz’s secrets

MIRPURKHAS: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari Friday slamming at his political rival Nawaz Sharif said that he could not frighten or exile PPP leadership on revealing secrets.

Addressing a public meeting in connection with celebration of the 90th birthday of former prime minister Bhutto , here he said that how could he (Nawaz) disclose secrets about others when he is the biggest secret. He added PML-N is in the government as well as working as the opposition.

Asif Zardari said Pakistan is in trouble because of incompetent leaders. He said that the elected leaders of the country lack vision and that no shortcoming can be masked in the present times. He claimed that the people of Pakistan no longer support the present government. He said PML-N leaders did not work in the five-year tenure except for having their friends establish industries and change their lives around.

Co-Chairman PPP claimed that all state institutions are subordinates of the PML-N government and that leaders of the front use government’s vehicles, resources and enjoy protocol. He said although he (Zardari) is not party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto but he shares his ideals and his spirit”.  He said Pakistan is currently in difficult times due to inefficient politicians as they failed to fulfill their purpose.

He strongly diatribe late appointment of foreign minister and said that in absence of full-time foreign minister had badly reflected its international affairs. “This person will take your narrative to the world and they will listen,” he said sarcastically. “If you had to appoint a foreign minister you should have at least appointed someone who the world would understand.”

Moving to the next hot topic for debate, Zardari mocked Nawaz Sharif for stating that he will  spill the secrets, when “you are the biggest secret.” Explaining the remark, he alleged that Nawaz had managed to get 112,000 votes even though he had given tickets to people who could not even win a union council election seat — with the insinuation being that this was made possible by election rigging.“They have appointed a foreign minister that speaks English in Punjabi,” mocked the former president.

“Don’t send us indirect messages thinking we will be intimidated,” said the PPP co-chair in reference to Nawaz’s earlier statement about exposing behind the curtain scheming with evidence.

Zardari said that Nawaz shouldn’t speak of behind the scene secrets, as the ruling party itself is the biggest mystery.

“You (the PML-N) is in the government and behind the scene as well,” said Zardari, adding that he finds it confounding that how come a person incapable of winning a Union Council elections gathers 100,000 votes in general elections. While praising ZA Bhutto, the PPP co-chairperson said that the party founder breathed meaning and sensibility into the party.

PPP was demanding the government to appoint a foreign minister for the past three years and an appointment was done just now. He further criticised that a foreign minister who speaks ‘English in Punjabi’ is no good.

Earlier during his address to the participants, PPP leader and Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that Pakistan needs those leaders who would live and die for its people. “Our life and death is associated with the people of this nation,” said Shah.
